The Black Mamba Anti Poaching Unit are doing everything they can to protect the rhino and other wildlife of South Africa every day. The Black Mamba Anti Poaching Unit was founded in 2013 by Craig Spencer of Transfrontier Africa and created to protect the Olifants West Region of Balule Nature Reserve in South Africa and has since expanded to cover the entire Balule area, 400km². The Black Mamba Anti-Poaching Unit is the first of its kind, being that the majority of the teams are women. There are currently 26 Black Mambas deployed and a further 23 armed guards that operate within Balule and along its boundaries. Only the Black Mambas salaries are covered by SANParks, all other costs such as uniforms, equipment, food, vehicles and fuel are not and therefore funding, sponsorships, donations and proceeds from items such as this calendar are essential to cover the expenses.
