Unisex T-Shirt. Declawing is the amputation of a cat’s toe bones. It is performed to remove the cat’s claws, which grow from deep within the bone. It is NOT a fancy manicure. Declawing is considered cruel in most of the world but is routinely performed on American and Canadian cats to prevent cats from scratching furniture. Many humane and effective alternatives exist to protect household furnishing from unwanted scratching. Declawed cats may have persistent pain and refuse to use the litter box because the litter hurts their damaged paws.
